Pastor & Staff

  • Andrew Cheung

    Senior Pastor

Born in Missouri and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Andrew studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia before working in the airline industry. He then went on to complete a Master of Divinity at Regent College and graduated from the Arrow Leadership program. Prior to arriving at Washington Community Fellowship, Andrew served as a Site Pastor at Tenth Church, a bustling multi-cultural, city-center church in Vancouver.  A constant learner, he's passionate about helping people encounter the timeless reality of Christ found in Scripture for the contemporary world we live in. Most of all, he loves to look for glimmers of God’s grace at work in the lives of people and opportunities for Jesus-followers to embody God's love and justice in the homes, workplaces and the world.

Andrew and his wife Julia, a writer and communications professional, are often seen cruising on their bikes from their Capitol Hill neighborhood to enjoy the sights and cuisines of DC with their teenage children, Ashley and Evan. At home, Andrew has always enjoyed being a big kid with his kids and foster children in the past.

  • BRian Conklin

    Music Director

Brian grew up in a musical family in Southern California during an era of growth in new worship music during the 70's and 80's.  Calvary Chapel and Vineyard were vibrant centers for music just minutes away from his college campus; both had a tremendous influence on Brian’s love for vibrant, relevant worship that transforms people's lives.

After graduating from Eastern College in Philadelphia with a Masters Degree in Economic Development, Brian and his wife Dawn spent two years in Bangladesh as missionaries with the Mennonite Central Committee.  From there, Brian joined the US Agency for International Development as a foreign service officer and his family has spent the better part of the last two decades overseas - living in eight countries and working in nearly a dozen others (mostly in Africa).

Brian's passion for music has continued throughout his life and across continents. Although he’s down to play almost any genre from afro-beat to rock, blues and soul, pop by a DC lounge like Mr Henry’s on a weeknight and you just might catch Brian playing with the Capital Lab Band, a local big band jazz ensemble.

  • Samantha Bohall

    Coordinator of Children's Nurture

Sam was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She moved to the north shore of Boston to earn degrees in Biology and Secondary Education at Gordon College, where her love affair with the cool ocean breezes and rocky summits of New England began. Sam's passion for experiential education has brought her in and out of the classroom in several countries, into nannying with little ones, touring abroad with high schoolers, and leading youth of all ages up mountains and down rivers.

Since relocating to the DMV two years ago, Sam delights in discovering new places and things to learn about the area. She loves working with WCF children; getting to glimpse the world through the wonder and curiosity of a child's eyes is an utterly magical privilege. It doesn't get better than when these moments include pointing a child towards Jesus.

  • Tinbit Alemayehu

    Ministry and Communications Coordinator

Tinbit (pronounced tin-BEAT) serves as our Ministry and Communications Coordinator by supporting the logistics and communications of WCF ministries. Tinbit brings a keen eye for design and effective communication with her training in Digital Communications and Media Design from the University of Baltimore. Her skills are paired with a passion for the church to be effective in helping people experience a transforming relationship with Jesus. She most recently served as the Social Media Coordinator for her home church in Ethiopia. When she’s not working, Tinbit enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews in the Eastern Market neighborhood where she lives.

  • Les Graber
    Building Administrator

Les has been a member at WCF for 28 years. He was born and raised on a hog farm in Michigan, and is a general contractor licensed in DC. He loves caring for the building and making it available for use in the community, and values being a good neighbor at 9th and Maryland. He and his wife Kristal have two adult children, Nathan and Naomi. Les enjoys running, biking, refereeing soccer, and attending DC United soccer and Nationals baseball games.

  • Russell Edgerton

    CARETAKER

Russell began attending WCF in 1995 when he was living in the apartments across from 9th Streeet. He began working as a custodian around 2000. His favorite saying is, "This is the prayingest church around."

  • Anne Strong

    Caretaker

Anne has been a big part of WCF for many years. Her children were involved in the Neighborhood Learning Center, an after school tutoring program started by WCF that ran from 1984 to 2008. She does much of the cleaning in the building.
