I’ve been praying about how WCF’s vision to be a faith community that a makes Social Impact can be more than a nice slogan or merely aspirational. This summer we have the opportunity to take a step together to make a tangible impact in our community by offering a series of week-long summer day-camps.
Because of your generosity towards the Learning Lab project that we offered during the school year but did not implement due to low enrollment, we are able to offer a safe, supportive and educational free day-camp for upper-elementary and middle-school students with a STEM curriculum. Through the summer day camps, we can share God’s love with children and families in our community who have been affected academically, socially and emotionally during the pandemic.
Over the course of three weeks in July and August, there are a number of opportunities for you to volunteer, pray, serve and champion this incredible project led by Ragan Sawyer, our Program Coordinator for the summer camps. In the first week of publicizing, we already have five registrants! To find out the specific ways to engage, please go to wcfchurch.org/volunteer. And please share the word via this link, wcfchurch.org/STEM, with your friends and on social media.
This week, we conclude our Third Way sermon series looking at the Foundations for Loving Well from Matthew 22:36-40 and Matthew 5:43-48. On June 20, we start our summer series, entitled God’s Transforming Justice, that seeks to see the thread of God’s justice revealed in the lectionary readings. Whether you join us in-person or online, I look forward to celebrating God’s love together with you this Sunday.
Blessings,
Pastor Andrew
