Dear Friends,
As pandemic life approaches nearly a year, we may wonder what real community looks like in pandemic times? Is the beauty of community even possible?
This Sunday at 10 am, we continue our Called in Community sermon series. I'm grateful that my friend and fellow pastor in our city, Rev. Irwyn Ince, will be speaking on how we, as a church, are "Created Of and For Beautiful Community" from Genesis 1-2. It's a topic he's deeply passionate about. In fact, he even wrote a book about it called The Beautiful Community: Unity, Diversity, and the Church at Its Best. I hope you are able to join us and maybe even share the opportunity with your friends on social media.
Being called to community also means finding new ways of connecting with others during a pandemic. This has been particularly challenging for us to live out our value of authentic community amidst a diverse group of people. I'm grateful for the work of Rosalyn Alleman, who is the deacon representative for the Fellowship Commission, to find creative ways for us to stay connected as a faith community through events like the Scavenger Hunt taking place this Saturday.
I invite you to join us in a virtual all-ages scavenger hunt that will give us a different window into each of our lives as we find and share objects from around our homes. Scroll down to find out more about the event.
Striving for beauty of God's kingdom together with you,
Pastor Andrew Cheung
