Bethany Givens Blankespoor came to Washington, DC as a student, 22 years ago, and (to her surprise) has lived here ever since. She and her husband have called WCF their church home for the past 16 years. They live in the Petworth neighborhood with their 6 year old daughter, Bea and their 2 cats, Francis and Chiara. Bethany has worked on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship for 18 years. Currently she serves as a Prayer and Spiritual Formation Specialist for the Mid-Atlantic Region of InterVarsity.
Bethany completed her MDiv from Fuller Seminary in 2018 and is currently pursuing a Post-Masters Certificate in Spirituality from Boston College’s School of Theology and Ministry. Bethany is passionate about learning from historic Chistian prayer traditions, with particular interest in female contemplatives, Ignatian Spirituality, and the practice of pilgrimage. She finds joy in many other passions, including travel, pop culture, good food and powerlifting. But ultimately, her deepest passion is for pursuing a life of love and intimacy with Jesus, while helping others live out their own stories with hope, faith and love.
As the Term Minister during our Senior Pastor’s sabbatical, Bethany directs the Sunday pulpit ministry and supports the ministry staff. Contact her for queries related to these areas. For any other pastoral concerns, please contact the Elders.
